Ireland Approves Request to Ban Israeli Football in Europe

The Football Association of Ireland has voted by majority to call for Israel’s suspension from European football competitions.
The Football Association of Ireland voted on Saturday night, by a wide margin, in favor of a motion requiring its board to urge the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to promptly suspend Israel’s participation in all UEFA competitions, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency and Al Arabiya Network.
The Irish football Association stated that the proposal passed with 74 votes in favor, 7 against, and 2 abstentions.
The resolution noted that the Israeli Football Association violates two UEFA regulations: failure to implement effective policies against racism and organizing clubs within occupied territories without the consent of the Palestinian Football Association.
