Iraq’s Sixth Parliamentary Elections Kick Off

Following the first phase of Iraq’s parliamentary elections held on Sunday, the second phase for the general public began this morning.
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, reported that voting in the second phase of iraq’s parliamentary elections has commenced across the country.
The initial phase took place on Sunday and was reserved for groups ordinarily unable to vote,such as armed forces personnel.
The Chairman of Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission stated that voter turnout in this special election process reached 82 percent.
Notably, 7,768 candidates are competing for seats in Iraq’s parliament.
According to reports, 5,520 of these candidates are men and 2,248 are women.
Additionally,21 million Iraqi citizens are eligible to participate in this election to determine holders of the parliament’s 329 seats.
