Macron Warns Tel Aviv Against West Bank Annexation

According to the ‍English​ section of​ webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr news Agency and Agence France-Presse, Emmanuel‍ Macron warned in a joint press conference with Mahmoud abbas,‌ President of⁣ the Palestinian Authority, that any Israeli move to annex ⁣parts⁢ of‍ the West Bank is a‍ “red line” and would trigger a firm response‌ from Europe.

He described settler violence and accelerated​ settlement projects as threats to‌ stability in the West Bank‍ and‍ violations ⁣of international law. ⁢Macron stressed that partial or full annexation constitutes a European red line.

During the meeting, a joint committee⁤ was⁤ established to ⁢draft‍ an interim constitution,‌ election laws, and ​regulations on political party activities.‍ The Palestinian Authority president reaffirmed his commitment⁣ to ‍reforms and holding presidential and parliamentary elections ‍onc the‍ ceasefire in Gaza is stable.

Since the outbreak of war in ‍Gaza, more than 1,000‌ Palestinians have been ⁢killed in the​ West Bank.
