Russia Responds to Japan’s Sanctions

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and TASS,the Russian Foreign Ministry announced a ban on entry for 30 Japanese nationals, including Toshihiro Kitamura, spokesperson for Japan’s Foreign Ministry.
The ministry’s statement said this move was taken in response to Tokyo’s sanctions against Moscow. Entry into Russia will be restricted for these individuals.
Alongside Kitamura, Japanese journalists and university professors are also barred from entering Russia. As the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, Japan has imposed several sanction packages targeting Moscow.
Nikolay Nozdrev, Russia’s ambassador to Tokyo, criticized this policy. He stated that by imposing sanctions, Japan has effectively disrupted relations with one of its key neighbors while assuming that aligning with the Western anti-Russian campaign woudl serve its interests better.
