Russia Warns of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant Fuel Shortage Amid Shelling

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia’s state nuclear energy corporation, Rosatom, has raised serious alarms regarding the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant‘s fuel supply. Alexey Likhachev, the head of Rosatom, stated that the plant has been operating solely on its diesel generators for the past 11 days, creating a situation of “serious concern.” Rosatom asserts it maintains complete control over the situation at the plant. Likhachev highlighted that Kyiv’s shelling of routes leading to the facility is making the transfer of fuel to backup diesel generators perilous. The Russian official further alleged that Kyiv is actively working to worsen the situation rather than resolve the issue of external power supply for the Zaporizhzhia plant. Likhachev emphasized that securing diesel fuel for the plant is Rosatom’s top priority and that the company is committed to organizing its transfer under all circumstances. Rosatom also expressed hope that personnel from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) would accompany the convoy carrying diesel fuel for the Zaporizhzhia plant.
