He reiterated his threat to file a $1 billion lawsuit against the BBC,saying,”I consider it my duty to do so.They deceived people and have admitted it themselves. It is regrettable that this happened in one of our allied countries.”
The US official added, “They altered my January 6 speech, taking words that were calm and soothing and presenting them as if they were radical and provocative.”
Tim Davie, Director General of the BBC, resigned on Sunday following criticism over how Trump’s speech ahead of the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack was edited. This version aired last year on Panorama shortly before the 2024 presidential election.
A legal letter from Trump’s attorney Alejandro brito demanded that BBC immediately retract its false statements about the US President.
The letter warned that if BBC fails to comply, the President will have no choice but to take legal action to defend his rights and may seek damages totaling at least $1 billion.
