New Irish President Takes Office; Pro-Palestine and NATO Opponent

Catherine Connolly was sworn in as Ireland’s tenth president since independence from the united Kingdom, formally starting her tenure, according to webangah News Agency, citing The Guardian.
Connolly,a left-wing politician,is a vocal critic of the Israeli regime,the European Union,and NATO. she also openly supports Palestine.
In the recent Irish presidential election, Connolly won decisively with 63% of the vote, defeating her main rival Heather Humphreys of the center-right party, who received 29.5%.
During her inauguration ceremony, Connolly stated: “We must strive to end wars-wars that continue with genocide. Our experiance of colonization and resistance to it, along with the famine inflicted upon us, equips us with a deep understanding of displacement, hunger, and conflict.”
