White House Denies Plans to Build Military Base Near Gaza

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Qatar’s Al Jazeera network, White House spokesperson Caroline Lewitt responded to reports about constructing a military base near the Gaza Strip by saying: “We have no interest in participating in building a military base around Gaza.”
She added, “We will not engage in this effort at present, nor will we ever fund it.”
Yesterday, informed sources revealed that the U.S. Navy is seeking funding to build a military base near the Gaza Strip with capacity for 10,000 personnel.
Also yesterday, Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted an Israeli source reporting that the U.S. intends to establish a military base around Gaza as part of new security measures being considered.
It is worth noting that dozens of American soldiers are currently stationed in the Kiryat Gat area in central occupied territories under the pretext of monitoring the ceasefire in Gaza.
