Turkish Ship Targeted in Russian Attacks in Ukraine

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency and Russia Al-Youm, Turkish media reported that Russian military forces targeted the ship Orinda, which was carrying approximately 4,000 tons of liquefied gas and docked at the port of Izmail.
The report states that the attack was carried out using a drone and that the ship’s crew evacuated.
The Turkish Directorate General of Maritime Affairs issued a statement on social media platform X confirming that the Turkish-flagged liquefied gas carrier Orinda was attacked while unloading at Izmail port in Ukraine.
The statement added: “The liquefied gas carrier Orinda, flying the Turkish flag and with 16 Turkish crew members aboard during unloading operations in Izmail port, experienced an incident which resulted in a fire. The crew safely abandoned the vessel with no injuries reported. Firefighters are currently working to control the blaze on board.”
Russia has not yet responded to this report. It remains unclear whether Russian air forces were aware of the ship’s identity or nationality.
