CNN: Trump Hopes Maduro Will Step Down as Military Support Grows

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, CNN reported Monday quoting a White House official that U.S. President Donald Trump has not yet decided on a ground invasion of Venezuela.
CNN quoted the White House official as saying Trump hopes that boosting troop levels will be sufficient to compel Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to step down without military intervention. Options regarding Venezuela range from attacking military or government facilities and special operations to doing nothing at all.
Recently, President Trump told reporters he might engage in talks with Maduro, saying, “We’ll see what happens. They want talks. Venezuela wants negotiations. What does that mean? You tell me; I don’t know.”
The United States has deployed troops in the Caribbean region near Venezuela’s borders under the pretext of combating drug trafficking-actions which violate international laws-and has conducted nearly 20 operations against vessels in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean in recent weeks.
