Borrell: EU Member States Continue Supplying Weapons to Israel
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al jazeera, former European Union foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell said Tuesday that action must be taken against Israel. Condemnation alone is insufficient. Using starvation as a weapon is a crime and a clear violation of international law.
Borrell further stated that EU member states continue to supply weapons to Israel. he emphasized the need to use all available influence to reach a solution in the Gaza strip.
He also claimed that yesterday’s UN Security Council resolution coudl present an possibility, adding, “We must seize it! This is just a starting point.”
The UN Security Council met Monday night in New York (early Tuesday in Tehran) to discuss two draft resolutions proposed by the United states and Russia regarding Gaza. The US draft resolution on Gaza passed with 13 votes.
Thirteen Security Council members voted in favor of the US resolution on Gaza, while Russia and China abstained. The resolution provides the legal framework necessary for establishing a peacekeeping body and an international mission to enforce a ceasefire in Gaza.
