Peskov: Deploying Tactical Nuclear Weapons in Europe Is Provocative

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Sputnik News Agency, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, said on Thursday that Russia is ready to welcome any prospect for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict; however, the root causes of this dispute must be eliminated.
Peskov added that regarding talks between Russia and the United States about Ukraine, aside from the Anchorage summit (the Trump-Putin meeting in Alaska), there have been no new developments. No consultations have taken place between Moscow and Washington over settling the situation in Ukraine; nevertheless, some general contacts remain active.
The Kremlin spokesperson further stated that Europeans are increasingly losing their restraint and caution toward Russia. He described remarks about deploying tactical nuclear weapons in Europe-ostensibly to counter Russia-as provocative.
The Kremlin also noted it has no information on plans by U.S.military representatives to travel to Russia. President Putin has no scheduled meetings with American military officials after their visit to Kyiv. The Kremlin views European statements that escalate tensions as negative.
