Sudan Sovereignty Council: We Will Suppress Rapid Support Forces

Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman Announces Decision to Suppress UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces

Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, declared his determination‍ to suppress the ⁤rebel ‍militias supported by the United ⁣Arab ⁢Emirates.

The armed clashes in Sudan began on April ⁤15, 2023, between the army led by abdel Fattah al-burhan and the Rapid support Forces (RSF) commanded by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti. The conflict centers on power struggles and disputes over how ‌to integrate the RSF into ‍the army following the 2021 coup. International mediation efforts have so far failed ⁢to resolve the⁢ crisis.

Sudanese sources report heavy fighting today between army forces and RSF units, with military equipment belonging to Hemedti’s forces destroyed in Sudan’s border⁤ triangle with Libya and Egypt.

Other sources also confirm intense ⁢clashes between Sudanese army troops‌ and RSF fighters in the Kordofan region.
