Sudan Sovereignty Council: We Will Suppress Rapid Support Forces

Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, declared his determination to suppress the rebel militias supported by the United Arab Emirates.
The armed clashes in Sudan began on April 15, 2023, between the army led by abdel Fattah al-burhan and the Rapid support Forces (RSF) commanded by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti. The conflict centers on power struggles and disputes over how to integrate the RSF into the army following the 2021 coup. International mediation efforts have so far failed to resolve the crisis.
Sudanese sources report heavy fighting today between army forces and RSF units, with military equipment belonging to Hemedti’s forces destroyed in Sudan’s border triangle with Libya and Egypt.
Other sources also confirm intense clashes between Sudanese army troops and RSF fighters in the Kordofan region.
