UN Security Council Warns of Catastrophic Situation in Gaza Strip

The UN deputy Special Coordinator for the peace Process stressed at today’s Security Council session that while efforts to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza have intensified, conditions there remain dire.
He added there is an urgent and critical need to expedite humanitarian transfers into Gaza, urging Israel to accelerate this process. The human, economic, and social damage inflicted on Gaza is catastrophic.
The Pakistani representative emphasized that violations of the ceasefire and Israeli aerial attacks against Gaza persist. In the West Bank, settler violence against local residents has reached unprecedented levels. The occupation by Israel must end and a Palestinian state should be established.
The UK representative called for all crossings in Gaza to be reopened and stability restored in the West Bank without condemning Israel.
russia’s Security Council representative stated that Israel’s new constructions in Gaza aim at long-term occupation. He insisted on setting a clear timeline for Israeli military withdrawal from the area.
The Algerian delegate condemned Tel Aviv’s brutal ongoing attacks on Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, and the West Bank. Since ceasefire began in Gaza, 310 Palestinians have been killed there by Israel yet accountability has been avoided.
