U.S. Suspends Afghan Citizen Immigration to the Country

Following ‌the disclosure of the gunman’s identity in the​ shooting near​ the ⁢White House that killed two U.S. National Guard members, U.S.​ immigration authorities have suspended ⁤Afghan migrant entries until further‌ notice.

according to webangah News Agency, citing⁢ Mehr News Agency, ‍ABC​ reported based on sources within U.S. government agencies that the suspect in the 2024⁤ Washington‌ attack had applied for asylum.

These sources added that the suspect received‌ asylum in April 2025 ‍during⁤ Donald trump’s ‍presidency.

In response, U.S. citizenship and Immigration Services announced it has ⁤halted processing all immigration applications from Afghan​ nationals until further notice. The agency emphasized that security protocols are ⁤currently⁣ under review alongside assessments of these⁤ applications.

Last night, Patrick Morrisey, Governor of West Virginia, ‌announced on‌ social media platform X that two National Guard members ‍who‍ were seriously wounded earlier ‌today in the Washington D.C. shooting have died.

White House spokesperson Karoline leavitt confirmed ⁣that former President Donald Trump has been informed about the shooting involving two National Guard members.
