U.S. Acknowledges Yemen’s Air Defense Strength as F-16s Come Under Missile Attack
The US Air Force admitted that William Parks, the former commander of an F-16 squadron, encountered serious difficulties during a mission over the Red Sea as Yemeni air defense missiles detonated close to his aircraft, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News and Al Masirah.
After facing a barrage of Yemeni air defense missiles, the commander became engaged in a complex maneuver that put his life at risk.
It was also reported that after losing a notable amount of fuel from his fighter jet, Parks requested aerial refueling while flying over Yemeni airspace.
Previously, the US marine Corps noted in a report that YemenS operations in the Red Sea offer extraordinary lessons in operational innovation and unconventional tactics. Despite lacking advanced naval or air power, Yemen has successfully challenged the US naval fleet and imposed considerable costs on it.
