Venezuela Condemns US Tanker Seizure as ‘Piracy’

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Venezuela has strongly condemned the United States’ confiscation of a tanker in Caribbean waters, branding it as “piracy.” The Foreign Ministry has called on the international community to resist such actions by the U.S. as a means of exerting pressure.
Vice President Delsy Rodriguez stated, “Today, the masks have fallen, and the truth is clear: the real goal of the U.S. is to seize Venezuelan oil.” She emphasized that Washington seeks to “illegally steal Venezuelan oil without paying any price.”
Rodriguez asserted that the seizure is a clear violation of international law, carrying legal consequences. Venezuela plans to appeal to all international institutions and forums to expose what it describes as blatant theft by the United States.
She further stated that Venezuela will act with “national unity” to defend its resources and wealth. Rodriguez concluded by affirming that “defending our assets is a sovereign right, and Venezuela will prevail regardless of any challenges.”
Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday that U.S. forces had seized a tanker under the pretext that it was under sanctions. President Donald Trump has confirmed the action, stating that Washington will soon release images of the tanker’s seizure.
