Guterres Condemns Israeli Settlements as Illegal, Threat to Gaza

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned Israel’s settlement activities in the West Bank, emphasizing their illegality and destabilizing impact on the region.
In a recent report, Guterres highlighted that 2025 has seen the largest expansion of Israeli settlement projects since the UN began monitoring them. He specifically criticized the surge in settler violence, particularly during the olive harvest season, describing it as alarming.
“All Israeli settlements in the West Bank are illegal, null and void, and a blatant violation of international law,” Guterres asserted. He reiterated the UN’s consistent position that these settlements have no legal validity.
Turning to Gaza, the Secretary-General expressed deep concern over the fragile security situation and the ongoing violence that threatens the ceasefire. He noted that recurrent Israeli attacks in Gaza continue to cause significant civilian casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.
