Palestinian Authority Condemns Israeli Regime’s Decision on Ibrahim Mosque Control

The Palestinian Authority’s Foreign Ministry denounced Israel’s transfer of management authority over the Ibrahim Mosque from Hebron’s municipality to its own administration, calling it a dangerous escalation and a violation of the site’s legal and historical status.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Palestinian Authority‘s Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Thursday condemning the Israeli regime’s decision to strip Hebron’s municipality of its management authority over the Ibrahim Mosque and transfer it to the occupying regime’s administration. The ministry described the move as a “dangerous escalation of tensions” and a “blatant violation of the legal and historical status of this holy site.”

The ministry emphasized that these actions aim to alter the historical and legal identity of the Ibrahim Mosque. It noted that the mosque and the historic center of Hebron have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Danger since 2017 under the name of Palestine.

Rejecting the decision as historically and legally invalid, the ministry vowed to continue its diplomatic and legal efforts in international forums to protect the Ibrahim Mosque and prevent its Judaization.

The Israeli regime’s Supreme Planning Council, affiliated with its civil administration, has revoked all planning authorities related to the Ibrahim Mosque from Hebron’s Arab municipality and transferred them to itself.

In recent years, Tel Aviv has sought to alter the historical and legal status of the Ibrahim Mosque through unilateral construction projects and decisions, actions that have consistently faced Palestinian opposition and international condemnation.
