Lebanese Presidency Backs Army’s Stance on Southern Developments, Calls for Israeli Withdrawal

The Lebanese presidency has endorsed the military’s position on developments in southern Lebanon, emphasizing the need for Israel’s complete withdrawal and the release of prisoners to strengthen state sovereignty.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Lebanese presidency has issued a statement supporting the army’s declared positions on recent developments in areas south of the Litani River and the issue of arms monopoly in the region. The statement highlighted that achieving lasting stability depends on addressing unresolved issues that hinder the full extension of state authority.

The presidency stressed that Israel’s complete withdrawal and the release of prisoners are fundamental to empowering the government to exercise its sovereignty. It called on the international community and friendly nations to assist Lebanon in implementing the ceasefire agreement.

The Lebanese Army earlier criticized the ongoing violations and occupation by the Zionist regime in southern Lebanon, announcing that the plan to monopolize arms south of the Litani River has reached an advanced stage. The army also noted that continuous Israeli attacks, occupation of several areas, buffer zones, and daily ceasefire violations negatively impact its missions and the extension of state authority.
