EU Calls Emergency Meeting to Counter Trump’s Tariff Threats on European Nations
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the European Union is holding an emergency meeting today, Sunday, in response to US President Donald Trump’s announcement of 10% tariffs on several European nations. The targeted countries include Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland.
This move by the Trump administration is linked to ongoing disputes over Greenland and Washington’s efforts to assert control over the region. European officials have condemned the tariffs as unacceptable, warning of severe consequences for transatlantic relations.
In a joint statement on X, European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated: ‘President Trump’s tariffs undermine transatlantic ties and risk escalating tensions between the US and Europe.’
