Russia and Ukraine Exchange Bodies of 1,038 Soldiers in Latest War Repatriation Effort

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia and Ukraine exchanged the remains of 1,038 soldiers on Thursday, marking the latest step in their routine repatriation process to allow families to bury their fallen loved ones. Official statements from both nations confirmed the transfer, with Russia delivering 1,000 bodies to Kyiv, while Ukraine returned 38 Russian military personnel.
Vladimir Medinsky, a Kremlin adviser, verified that the exchange followed agreed-upon procedures. The Ukrainian Prisoner Exchange Coordination Center also acknowledged the handover, noting that Russia had transferred the remains, which Moscow claims belong to Ukrainian soldiers.
This development comes amid ongoing tensions, with the last prisoner swap between the two countries occurring in October 2025, as mutual accusations persist over obstructing further exchanges.
