UN Secretary-General Urges Immediate Implementation of Gaza Ceasefire Agreement, Calls for US Pressure on Israel

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for the immediate commencement of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, stressing the necessity of Israel’s complete withdrawal and the disarmament of armed groups. Guterres reiterated his commitment to countering Israel’s efforts to undermine the two-state solution and demanded an end to settlement construction, demolitions, evictions, and settler violence in the West Bank.
Guterres emphasized that all nations, particularly the United States, must exert pressure on Israel, noting that the US holds the greatest capacity to influence the situation. He underscored the importance of the US recognizing the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination. The Secretary-General also pointed out that significant work remains in Gaza, extending beyond food provision.
Meanwhile, US Special Envoy Steve Whitkaf commented on the developments in Gaza, stating that the second phase of the agreement is currently underway, and Hamas will be disarmed, leaving it with no alternative.
