Russia Downs 26 Ukrainian Drones Amid Ongoing Border Clashes

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed the downing of 26 Ukrainian drones overnight over the Bryansk, Smolensk, Belgorod regions and the Crimean Peninsula. Vasily Anokhin, governor of Smolensk Oblast, verified that seven drones were neutralized in his region without casualties or damage.

The incident occurred as political negotiations to resolve the Ukraine conflict persist, with border clashes between Russia and Ukraine remaining uninterrupted. Matthew Whitaker, the U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO, previously stated that Washington expects territorial disputes to reach resolution in coming weeks.

Whitaker noted negotiators are finalizing four key documents: a 20-point peace plan, multilateral security guarantees, U.S. security assurances, and a post-conflict economic recovery program.
