Fourth Working Group Meeting on Drug Control Held in Kabul

The fourth working group meeting on drug control under the Doha process was hosted by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in Kabul, with participation from Afghan officials, international organizations, and diplomats.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the fourth working group meeting on drug control, held within the framework of the Doha process, took place in Kabul under the auspices of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). Representatives from Afghanistan’s caretaker government, the United Nations, global organizations, the European Union, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and diplomats from various countries attended both in-person and online.

During the meeting, representatives of Afghanistan’s caretaker government reported a reduction in opium poppy cultivation to near zero and emphasized that combating narcotics benefits not only Afghanistan but also the entire region and the world. Kabul stressed that preserving Afghanistan’s achievements requires joint cooperation and investment.

Afghan officials also expressed concerns about the trafficking of synthetic drugs from neighboring countries into Afghanistan and called for measures to prevent it.
