US Navy Seizes Oil Tanker in Indian Ocean, Alleging Venezuela Sanctions Violation

The United States military has seized an oil tanker in the Indian Ocean, claiming it violated unilateral sanctions against vessels traveling to or from Venezuela. According to US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, the operation followed a tracking mission from the Caribbean Sea.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced on Monday that American military forces seized an oil tanker in the Indian Ocean after pursuing it from the Caribbean region.
The US Secretary of Defense accused the vessel of violating the US’s unilateral blockade against ships traveling to or from Venezuela.
Pete Hegseth stated on his X social media account that US military forces seized the vessel “Aquila II” in a nighttime operation. He added that the Department of Defense had tracked and seized the ship from the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean.
This action follows previous instances where the US has seized oil tankers under the pretext of unilateral hostile actions against Caracas.
