Russia Accuses Europe and NATO of Disrupting Ukraine Peace Talks

Russia’s ambassador to Italy, Alexey Paramonov, has accused Europe and NATO of attempting to disrupt negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine. This statement follows a proposal from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for the European Union to participate in the peace talks.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Ambassador to Italy Alexey Paramonov stated in an interview with Ria Novosti that the time for appointing a “special representative of the European Union” to resolve the Ukraine crisis and restore contact with Russia has passed. His remarks came in response to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s suggestion that the EU should be involved in the peace negotiations.

Paramonov added that attempts by Europe and NATO to enter the negotiation process are solely aimed at disrupting the talks. Despite several rounds of negotiations, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, with territorial issues remaining the most significant obstacle to reaching a resolution.

Both Russia and Ukraine are striving to maintain and expand the territories under their control, seeking to gain the upper hand both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table. Previously, Matthew Whitaker, the U.S. Permanent Representative to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), announced that Washington expects the issue of territorial disputes to be resolved in the coming days and weeks.

According to data released by Mehr News Agency, participants in the negotiation process are currently working on four final documents. These include a 20-point peace plan, a set of multilateral security guarantees, specific U.S. security guarantees, and a program for economic growth and prosperity after peace is achieved.
