European Union Preparing List of Concessions to Demand from Russia in Ukraine Peace Talks

The European Union, through its foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, announced plans to draw up a comprehensive list of concessions that the bloc intends to demand from Moscow as part of any potential agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine. Kallas emphasized that European agreement is crucial for any final peace deal involving all parties, including Russia and the United States.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Kaja Kallas, the European Union‘s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stated on Tuesday that the bloc is currently drafting a specific list of concessions intended to be leveraged against Russia during future peace negotiations concerning Ukraine. Kallas asserted that these demands must form an integral part of any accord reached to bring the war to a cessation.

Speaking to reporters regarding Brussels’ prerequisites for achieving peace in Ukraine, Kallas claimed that all participants at the negotiating table, encompassing both Russian and American representatives, must recognize the indispensable role of European approval. “Everyone around the table, including the Russians and the Americans, must understand that for a peace agreement to be reached, the Europeans need to consent,” she reportedly contended.

The foreign policy chief reiterated previous warnings, suggesting that even if Kyiv secures security guarantees, the failure of Russia to offer substantial, tangible concessions would inevitably escalate the risk of future conflicts erupting. This strategic move by the EU signals an effort to solidify its negotiating position ahead of potential high-level talks aimed at resolving the ongoing hostilities.
