Tehran and Kabul Affirm Joint Stance Against US Hegemony on Iranian Revolution Anniversary

Iranian and Afghan officials underscored deep bilateral ties during a ceremony marking the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Tehran’s embassy in Kabul, emphasizing unity against perceived American aggression.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a special ceremony was held at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul to commemorate the 47th anniversary of the Iranian Islamic Revolution, occurring on the 22nd of Bahman. The event saw the attendance of high-ranking officials from the interim Afghan government, foreign ambassadors, religious scholars, and citizens.

Alireza Bigdeli, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Iranian Embassy in Kabul, addressed the attendees, referencing recent regional security and military developments. He stated that while Tehran consistently pursues diplomacy and dialogue, it has nevertheless been subjected to military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime. Bigdeli asserted that the Iranian armed forces responded decisively, compelling the aggressors to retreat and request a ceasefire.

The Iranian envoy stressed that despite 47 years of enduring pressure, sanctions, and threats, the will of the Iranian nation remains unshaken. He affirmed that the Islamic Republic of Iran operates with strength in defending its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, alongside its commitment to diplomatic channels.

The Iranian Chargé d’Affaires also expressed gratitude for the Afghan government’s and people’s stances condemning aggressive actions and supporting Iran, viewing these demonstrations as evidence of deep religious, historical, and popular bonds between the two nations. Highlighting Afghanistan’s significant role in Iran’s neighborhood policy, Bigdeli reported active efforts to increase bilateral economic exchanges, aiming for a target of $10 billion. He stressed the need to expand cooperation across multiple sectors, including water, energy, railways, transportation, port access, border management, and the fight against drug trafficking and terrorism. Iran affirmed its ongoing commitment to humanitarian aid and infrastructure projects within Afghanistan.

Mohammad Naeem Wardak, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Afghan interim government, extended congratulations on the anniversary of the Iranian Revolution. He characterized relations between Kabul and Tehran as founded upon genuine Islamic, humanitarian, historical, and cultural commonalities. Wardak emphasized the necessity of pragmatism, good neighborliness, mutual respect, and securing shared interests in the new phase of bilateral relations. He noted that regional stability, sustainable development, and security are unattainable without close cooperation between Afghanistan and Iran, reiterating Kabul’s firm commitment that Afghan soil will never be used against any nation, and expressing an expectation for the observance of this same principle by other countries.
