According to the foreign policy group Tasnim news agency, Nasser Kanani, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to the journalists’ questions regarding the results of the Taiwan elections, stated: The Islamic Republic of Iran considers respect for the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of countries as the basis of its foreign policy, and in this context, it always declares its support for the One China principle.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added: In this regard, the Islamic Republic of Iran once again firmly supports the right of the People’s Republic of China to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity. It also announces the reunification of China based on the peaceful development of both sides of the strait.
Taiwan’s presidential and parliamentary elections were held on Saturday under the shadow of China’s threats. Its preliminary results were announced.
According to the preliminary results of the vote count, “William Lai Ching-te” of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and the current vice president of Taiwan, 43/ 2% of the votes.
After the announcement of Taiwan’s election results, Chinese officials announced that they will firmly oppose independence efforts and foreign interference, and work with political parties and all sectors of Taiwan’s society to promote will try to cooperate.
