Gunmen Kill 46 Villagers in Coordinated Attacks Across Nigeria’s Niger State

At least 46 individuals were killed when armed assailants targeted three separate villages in Niger State, located in the central-western region of Nigeria. The deadly coordination of attacks highlights persistent security challenges across the West African nation.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, at least 46 people have been killed following armed assaults on three villages within Nigeria‘s Niger State, situated in the country’s central-western area. A security source confirmed the casualty toll to Agence France-Presse on Saturday.

The unnamed security official detailed that the attacks, which appeared to be coordinated, resulted in significant loss of life. Specifically, 38 people were shot and killed in the village of Kunkuso. Further casualties were reported in two other nearby communities: seven people died in Makera Tungai, and one individual was killed in Bissa.

These three targeted villages fall under the jurisdiction of the Borgu local government area and share a border with the neighboring Kwara State. This latest violence underscores the ongoing insecurity plaguing the region, coming shortly after a wave of attacks in February where gunmen reportedly murdered more than 160 people across Kwara State.
