Norway Backs ICC Warrants, Vows Arrest of Israeli Officials If They Enter Country

Norway’s Foreign Minister has affirmed his country’s support for the International Criminal Court’s indictments against Israeli leaders, stating they would be subject to immediate arrest upon entering Norwegian territory. The official also expressed grave concern that current developments are undermining the prospects for a two-state solution.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide on Saturday voiced significant concern over the deteriorating situation in the West Bank, emphasizing that ongoing regional developments severely weaken the viability of a two-state solution. Eide further clarified Norway‘s resolute stance regarding international legal accountability.

“We support the International Criminal Court’s indictment against Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli officials,” Eide stated. “If these individuals travel to our country, their arrest will be actionable.”

This position reaffirms Norway’s commitment to the jurisdiction of the ICC. It is notable that the International Criminal Court issued two arrest warrants against Netanyahu and the then-Defense Minister of the Zionist regime, Yoav Gallant, on November 21 two years ago. The charges against the pair included accusations of committing crimes against humanity and war crimes within the Gaza Strip. Consequently, under the framework of the ICC, the presence of the Israeli Prime Minister in any member state jurisdiction necessitates his immediate detention.
