EU Fails to Agree on 20th Sanctions Package Against Russia

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Kaja Kallas, the European Union‘s foreign policy chief, announced on Monday that member states were unable to reach a consensus on the 20th sanctions package targeting Russia. Kallas described the situation as a setback, sending an unintended message, and stressed that efforts to implement further sanctions will continue.
Kallas further stated that diplomacy remains the way forward, but after a year of discussions and dialogue, no progress has been achieved regarding the establishment of a ceasefire in Ukraine. She specified that the European Union has decided to reduce the number of Russian diplomatic staff in Brussels and will also work to prevent Russian soldiers from entering its territory.
The European Union’s foreign policy chief claimed that Ukraine is paying the price for Russia’s miscalculations, but asserted that Moscow has failed to achieve its strategic objectives.
