Israel Plans to Build 2,721 New Settlements in West Bank

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli occupation authorities are moving forward with designs to build 2,721 new residential units for settlers in West Bank settlements. This announcement was made by the Palestinian Resistance Center Against the Wall and Settlement Construction, citing information from Turkey’s Anadolu Agency, as reported by Iran’s Mehr News Agency.
The center stated that the Higher Planning Council, affiliated with the occupation regime’s Civil Administration under the Israeli army, is scheduled to convene on Wednesday to review a new package of settlement plans. These proposals include advancing the construction of at least 2,721 new units across several West Bank settlements, alongside organizational and structural plans aimed at expanding settlement influence and bolstering their legal and planning infrastructure.
The proposed units are distributed across various settlements in the West Bank. Key allocations include 1,006 units in the “Givot” settlement west of Bethlehem in the southern West Bank, which is solidifying its status as an independent settlement after separating from “Allon Shvut” in March 2025. Additionally, 922 units are planned for “Har Bracha” settlement south of Nablus in the northern West Bank, 455 units for “Meifo Dotan” settlement west of Jenin, and 234 units for “Kiryat Arba” settlement east of Hebron, with a number of other units designated for settlements in other areas.
During the upcoming meeting, several other plans are slated for discussion, including changes to construction boundaries, land use modifications, and updates to construction regulations in multiple settlements. The Palestinian center described this as a continuation of the Israeli cabinet’s efforts to finalize the planning and legal infrastructure for settlement projects concurrently with their physical expansion.
The center emphasized that these plans underscore the occupation authorities’ ongoing policy of imposing new realities on Palestinian territory by expanding existing settlements and establishing new settlement hubs. The implementation of such schemes significantly increases the risk of further Palestinian land confiscation and fragmentation of geographical continuity among Palestinian communities, representing an extension of the incremental annexation policies pursued by the Netanyahu cabinet across the West Bank.
Since the commencement of the war against Gaza on October 8, 2023, the West Bank has experienced a surge in settler attacks, often with the support of Israeli occupation forces. These assaults have been particularly intense in rural areas and bedouin communities adjacent to settlements, which have repeatedly become launchpads for attacks against Palestinians and their property.
