Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri Affirms Unconditional Ceasefire Demand

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri reiterated Lebanon’s commitment to a complete and unconditional ceasefire, rejecting any proposals for phased arrangements outside the framework of parallel obligations between Lebanon and Israel.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has once again emphasized Lebanon‘s adherence to a comprehensive and complete ceasefire, dismissing any suggestions for incremental arrangements that deviate from the parallel implementation of commitments between Lebanon and Israel. Speaking to the “Wyz” platform, Berri stated that Lebanon’s position, which he champions, is founded upon a “complete and comprehensive ceasefire, without conditions, on land, sea, and air.” He asserted that other matters should only be addressed after the definitive establishment of this ceasefire.

Berri elaborated that the subsequent phase should encompass the simultaneous withdrawal of the Israeli army and Hezbollah forces from south of the Litani River, thereby enabling the Lebanese army to deploy in the region and allowing residents and displaced persons to return to their towns and villages. The Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament definitively rejected the establishment or approval of “testing zones” by the Zionist regime on Lebanese territory, deeming such a proposition unacceptable. He highlighted that the primary priority is the withdrawal of Israel and the implementation of an agreed-upon mechanism, synchronized with the deployment of the Lebanese army and the return of residents to their homes.

Berri welcomed any international endeavor aimed at concluding the conflict, stating, “If a ceasefire reaches me from any country, I will pursue it, even if it is from Bangladesh.”
