Politico Reports US Considering Tariffs on Ships Transiting Strait of Hormuz

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Politico, citing informed sources, claims the U.S. administration is considering necessary measures to resume oil tanker movements in the Strait of Hormuz. This includes the potential imposition of tariffs on ships that benefit from American escort services.
The White House is reportedly examining options to encourage shipowners and insurance companies to re-engage with transiting the Strait of Hormuz, concurrent with current discussions with Iran.
One proposal reportedly under consideration involves granting a type of VIP clearance to vessels. Ships with this clearance could experience expedited passage through the Strait and potentially receive support from U.S. Navy escorts, in exchange for additional fees.
It has been emphasized that no final decisions have been made regarding these proposals.
Data from the company Kpler indicates that approximately 500 vessels, including 220 oil tankers, remain at the entrance of the Strait of Hormuz, awaiting safe passage authorization.
These reported U.S. actions come at a time when the Islamic Republic of Iran has asserted its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz in response to alleged American-Zionist aggressions.
