Venezuela Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 929

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a Venezuelan official informed Agence France-Presse (AFP) that the number of fatalities from two severe earthquakes that struck the country early Thursday has reached 929.

The United States Geological Survey reported on Thursday morning that two major earthquakes shook Venezuela.

The initial magnitude of the earthquake was increased from 7.1 to 7.5 on the Richter scale before being finalized at 7.2 in a later revision, the report indicated.

The agency explained that the earthquake occurred in two consecutive stages, which led to a revision of the initial assessments regarding its intensity.
