Martyr Leader’s Funeral Procession to be Held in Iraq

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the General Directorate of Information for Iraq‘s Hashd al-Sha’abi Organization announced that the funeral procession for the martyred leader of Iran will take place in Iraq. This significant event is being conducted at the request of the Iraqi government and in coordination with various political factions.
The director of the Hashd al-Sha’abi’s General Directorate of Information, Muhand Al-Aghabi, stated that the ceremony is an official state funeral, involving the participation of relevant governmental bodies. This underscores the importance placed on the event by Iraqi authorities.
Sources close to the Iranian Embassy in Baghdad had previously indicated that the revered body of the martyred leader was scheduled to arrive in Iraq via Najaf International Airport on July 8, 2026. A delegation of Iraqi officials, religious figures, and prominent social and political personalities are expected to receive the body at the airport, with an official welcome ceremony planned.
Following the airport reception, the body will be transferred to the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS) for ceremonies of visitation and farewell. Subsequently, a procession will proceed to Karbala for a public funeral ceremony, anticipated to draw a large number of citizens in the area between the holy shrines.
The proceedings will conclude with the body being transported back to Najaf Airport for its onward journey to Mashhad, Iran. The management of the Alawi, Husseini, and Abbasi holy endowments, the governorates of Najaf and Karbala, the Ministries of Transport, Interior, and Foreign Affairs of Iraq, the Hashd al-Sha’abi organization, and the Prime Minister’s office are among the entities responsible for coordinating and organizing this significant event.
