According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan engaged in a phone conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The discussion, as reported by the Anadolu Agency via Mehr News Agency, focused on a range of topics pertinent to both nations and the international community.

The Turkish Presidency’s Directorate of Communications stated that the leaders deliberated on the bilateral relationship between Turkey and Germany, alongside key regional and global issues. President Erdogan emphasized Turkey’s commitment to enhancing its bilateral ties with Germany, noting the importance of continued reciprocal steps to achieve this objective.

During the consultation, Erdogan expressed his hopes that Europe would bolster its defense agenda within the framework of NATO, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara. He stressed the need for a strong demonstration of commitment to the “Transatlantic bond.” Furthermore, President Erdogan highlighted ongoing efforts to facilitate the resumption of negotiations aimed at bringing an end to the Russia-Ukraine war and achieving lasting peace.
