Venezuelan Supporters of Maduro Burn U.S. Flag in Caracas Protest

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, hundreds of supporters of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro took to the streets in Simón Bolívar Square in the center of Caracas, chanting anti-American slogans and setting fire to the flags of the United States and the Zionist regime. The demonstration was reported by Mehr News Agency, citing Agence France-Presse.

Protesters also trampled on images of U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, shouting, “Americans go back to your homes” and “This is not aid, it is occupation.” These chants referenced U.S. activities in Venezuela, which began under the guise of providing assistance to the Venezuelan people after two devastating earthquakes on June 24th.

Maduro, 63, and his wife Cilia Flores have been held in a Brooklyn prison since being detained by U.S. forces during what the text describes as an illegal incursion into Caracas in early January. They have denied the charges brought against them, with Maduro describing his detention as a form of kidnapping and himself as a prisoner of war. During a January arraignment hearing, Maduro stated in Spanish, “I am innocent. I am an honorable man and the legitimate president of my country.”
