Iraqi Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada Secretary-General Denounces U.S. Economic Hegemony

Abu Alaa Al-Walai, Secretary-General of Iraq’s Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, has strongly criticized the United States’ economic dominance over Iraq, advocating for liberation through diversification of trade markets and economic relations.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Abu Alaa Al-Walai, Secretary-General of Iraq‘s Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, on Sunday vehemently criticized the United States’ control over Iraq’s economic resources and destiny. He called for an end to this situation by diversifying the nation’s exchange markets and economic relations network.

Al-Walai posted a note on the social media platform ‘X’, stating that one of the most apparent aspects of Iraq’s incomplete sovereignty is the American economic grip on the country, its professional occupation and control of assets, and complete dominance over its wealth.

He posed the question: Do the free people of Iraq accept that their wealth is treated as a fee or a granted gift, rather than an inherent sovereign right of their nation?

Al-Walai further added, “If we desire liberation from American financial and economic dominance, diversification of export markets and banking relations network, and the establishment of an economic structure where decision-making, wealth, and trade routes are under its own control, is this too much to ask?”

He emphasized that sovereignty is not complete merely by dominating land but is achieved through the authority to make political, economic, and financial decisions, free from the influence of any foreign power.
