Russia to Equip 35 Regions with Unmanned Aviation Infrastructure by 2030

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia‘s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) announced that 35 regions across the country are expected to be outfitted with unmanned aviation infrastructure by the year 2030. Andrei Putkin, the Deputy Head of Rosaviatsia, stated on Monday that infrastructure is already in place in some areas, including Tatarstan, and is currently being developed in Russia’s Far East.
During his address at the “Rostec: Russia and China – Mutually Beneficial Cooperation” business forum in Kazan, Russia, Putkin elaborated on the ambitious plan. “By 2030, we aim to equip 35 regions of Russia with unmanned aviation infrastructure,” he said. This infrastructure, according to the official, is intended to serve as a foundation for the growth of what he termed a “low-altitude economy,” facilitating the use of unmanned aircraft for civilian purposes.
Putkin also highlighted the significant increase in drone activity within Russia. He reported that in 2025, Russia recorded 178,000 unmanned aircraft flights, marking a 20% rise compared to 2024. This figure encompasses flights that are supported by air traffic management services.
The Rostec forum, which focuses on economic and technological cooperation between Russian regions and China, is taking place in Kazan from August 16th to 19th.
