Israeli War Minister Disputes US Envoy’s Claims on Syria Airport Operation

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli War Minister Yisrael Katz has claimed that the Israeli army repeatedly proposed attacking Abu al-Duhur airport in Syria after receiving intelligence indicating potential threats. Speaking out against claims made by the US envoy to Syria and Iraq, Katz asserted that the operation was a necessary measure to prevent any party from jeopardizing Israel’s security.
The Israeli War Minister stated that information was received about Turkey’s intentions to undertake actions at Abu al-Duhur airport that could have been perceived as threatening. “We will not allow any party to endanger the security of Israel and will confront any threat, just as we acted in southern Syria,” Katz declared, seeking to justify the regime’s aggression.
Furthermore, Yisrael Katz rejected the full admission by Tom Barcak, the US envoy to Syria and Iraq, who suggested that Israel’s operations against Syria were based on erroneous information. Katz alleged that the US envoy’s statements were replete with fallacies that contradicted President Trump’s stance on the Golan Heights. He further claimed that “Erdogan was forced to retreat after our attack on Abu al-Duhur airport in Syria!”
This comes despite Tom Barcak, the US envoy to Syria and Iraq, suggesting in a press interview that there was a theory of misunderstanding between the Israeli army, Mossad, and the office of Netanyahu concerning the operation, which ultimately led to its execution. The special envoy for the President of the United States in Syria and Iraq also made a notable remark, emphasizing Israel’s occupation of Syria’s Golan Heights.
