Strategic Analyst: Trump’s Strait of Hormuz Claims False; Iran Maintains Maritime Control

A strategic affairs expert has asserted that U.S. actions have not removed Iran from maritime equations in the Strait of Hormuz, citing recent operations that demonstrate Tehran’s continued ability to monitor and target vessels in the critical waterway. This statement directly contradicts claims made by Donald Trump regarding shipping activity.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a strategic and security affairs expert, Mohammad Abdolvahed, has emphasized that U.S. aggressions against Iran have not expelled the country from the maritime equation in the Strait of Hormuz region. He noted that targeted operations against ships in the past week demonstrated Tehran’s persistent capability for monitoring and pinpointing targets within the Strait of Hormuz, enabling Iran to select vital and sensitive points for disrupting vessel traffic.

Abdolvahed explained that ballistic missiles play a strategic role in targeting military bases, while cruise missiles possess specific capabilities for engaging ships. This, he elaborated, grants Iran various leverage points for exerting pressure on maritime navigation.

The expert underscored the particular significance of this capability within the sensitive Strait of Hormuz, stating that Tehran does not require a complete closure of the strait to achieve military and economic impact. Instead, an increase in the risk level in the region is sufficient to cause shipping companies to face sharply rising insurance and transportation costs, prompting them to alter their routes. Vessel movements in the Strait of Hormuz over the past few days have been notably restricted, a trend that contrasts with claims of extensive ship passage.

This assertion comes amid repeated attempts by Donald Trump to portray shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz as normal through false posts, with the apparent aim of reducing global oil prices.
