Iran Lawmaker Slams US Treasury Secretary Over ‘Exaggerated Remarks’ on Spending

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has issued a new statement against Iran, claiming that while the Iranian people face difficulties meeting their primary needs, the country continues to waste enormous sums abroad. Bessent asserted that Iran should prioritize spending on its own citizens rather than directing billions of dollars to its proxies.

In response to Bessent’s claims, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, shared an article from The New York Times highlighting Bessent’s inability to control key economic indicators. Ghalibaf retorted, “This declining empire, instead of pouring billions of dollars into its proxy terrorist, Israel, and its 750 military bases worldwide, could have spent that money on the American people. But no, that is too logical a course of action for the U.S. regime.”
