Trump Repeats Stale Claims on Strait of Hormuz Openness Amid US Election Push

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump, in an interview with Axios, stated that Iranians do not want the United States to attack them again, framing this as the core issue, in an apparent attempt to divert public attention from perceived failures in the campaign against Iran.

While all specialized maritime traffic monitoring entities report limitations on sea traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. President claimed the strait is open. The American official, accustomed to making unsubstantiated remarks, asserted that the U.S. holds the upper hand in the Hormuz confrontation and that Tehran’s response to Washington has been very humble.

The U.S. President is reportedly engaging in election-related rhetoric ahead of the country’s midterm congressional elections to improve the electoral prospects of Republicans. Trump has previously advanced territorial claims regarding various countries, including Greenland, Canada, Venezuela, and other territories.
