Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia Launch Joint Defense Committee in Istanbul

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan held their inaugural joint strategic political and defense committee meeting in Istanbul, related to the Mecca Agreement, and subsequently issued a joint statement. The statement emphasized that the meeting represents a significant step forward in moving the Mecca Agreement from its signing phase to implementation. An agreement was reached on subsequent steps to institutionalize cooperation, and a secretariat will be established in Saudi Arabia to support the activities of the three nations. Pakistan will assume the presidency of this secretariat for an initial three-year term. The participating nations expressed their determination to implement the agreement to achieve peace and stability in the region. They committed to continuing their efforts to de-escalate tensions and exercise restraint, contributing to regional peace and stability. The three countries underscored the defensive nature of their partnership and the principle of mutual respect for national sovereignty. An agreement was also reached to enhance the defense capabilities of the three nations, with cooperation extending to strengthening defense industries, developing production, and advancing technology. The countries will bolster deterrence and collective defense among themselves, agreeing to contribute to the establishment of peace within the region and beyond.
