Germany Blames Russia for Drone Attack Attempt at Leipzig Airport

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Germany has officially declared Russia responsible for an attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport on August 4th. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt asserted at a press conference in Berlin on Tuesday that the federal government has concluded Russia was behind the hybrid attack in Leipzig. Dobrindt further stated that the incident fits a broader pattern of sustained destabilizing operations targeting Europe. He noted that the methods employed, including the drone’s configuration, components, explosives, and detonation systems, are consistent with those observed in previous Russian hybrid operations and Moscow’s ongoing conflict with Ukraine.

German federal prosecutors have characterized the incident as a serious attack on Germany’s transport and logistics infrastructure. Dobrindt claimed that the cumulative findings from police investigations, criminal patterns, and intelligence reports confirm Russia’s culpability in the attempted attack on Leipzig Airport. German investigators reportedly discovered a third drone near the airport on August 14th, subsequently finding traces of the military explosive hexogen in the vicinity, according to public broadcasters NDR, WDR, and the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.
