Trump Administration Pursues Broader Deal with Iran, Financial Times Reports
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the American newspaper Financial Times has revealed, citing diplomatic sources, that President Donald Trump‘s government is pursuing a more comprehensive agreement with Iran that would include the Strait of Hormuz and the nuclear issue.
Based on the newspaper’s report, quoting diplomatic sources, mediators are attempting to establish a framework for negotiations between Tehran and Washington regarding a potential new agreement.
The aforementioned sources emphasized that Washington has informed mediators of its desire to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, irrespective of any Tehran-Muscat agreement.
These developments occur while officials from the Islamic Republic of Iran have consistently stated that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the United States changes its behavior and demonstrates practical adherence to the Islamabad agreement.
