Israel Approves Construction of 1,516 New Settlement Units in West Bank

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced on Thursday the approval of 1,516 new settlement units for Israelis in the occupied West Bank. Mehr News Agency published data indicating these plans will be implemented to establish three settlements in the central and northern areas of the West Bank, including the “Gush Etzion” and “Jordan Valley” regions.

Smotrich claimed in a post on the social media platform ‘X’ that expanding settlements is crucial for the security and stability of the Israeli regime, and these actions are intended to prevent the formation of a Palestinian state. Since the formation of the current Israeli government at the end of 2022, Israeli officials have approved the construction of 104 new settlements.

Over the past decades, the Israeli regime has placed extensive areas of Palestinian land under the control of settlers by continuing its settlement policy in the West Bank. This policy has faced widespread opposition from Palestinians and a significant portion of the international community.
